Getting from Barcelona Airport to Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is not around the corner from Barcelona Airport. Once you have collected your bags there is still a drive of around 115 km ahead of you.

For people arriving with suitcases this is one of those journeys that is much easier when the transport is already sorted before the flight.

You leave the airport and go straight to Tossa de Mar. No trip into Barcelona first and no need to arrange another car when you get there.

When you make the booking put in the full address where you are staying.

Just writing Tossa de Mar is not enough. The driver needs to know where the journey actually ends.

For a hotel this is normally simple. For an apartment or holiday rental take the address directly from your reservation. If the owner has sent separate instructions for meeting or collecting keys keep those as well.

A screenshot on your phone is useful. You may not need it at all but it is better to have it there when you arrive.

Think About the Suitcases Before Picking the Vehicle

The number of passengers is only half of the decision.

A family of four can easily have four large cases plus cabin bags. In that situation a vehicle with four passenger seats is not automatically the right choice.

Look at the luggage allowance shown for the vehicle too.

If you are travelling light then there is no reason to book something bigger than you need. If the boot is going to be full of large cases a larger vehicle gives you more room and avoids problems at pickup.

The same applies if you are bringing a pushchair or anything else that takes up a lot of space.

If Your Flight Lands After Midnight Check the Date

This catches people out more often than you might expect.

You might leave home on Friday night but land in Barcelona at 00:20 on Saturday. In that case your airport pickup is on Saturday.

Check the arrival side of your flight confirmation before you book. That is the date and time that matters for the driver.

For Groups Keep One Person in Charge of the Booking

With two passengers there is usually nothing complicated.

With a bigger group things can become messy quite quickly. One person has the confirmation. Somebody else has the accommodation address. Another passenger knows the flight number.

It is easier if one person keeps all three.

Before walking out of the terminal make sure everybody is there and all the luggage has arrived. Once the group is ready you can leave together.

The Return Journey Is Worth Booking Early Too

Do not leave the return to Barcelona Airport until you are checking out.

Have a look at your departure time and airport terminal first. Then choose your pickup from Tossa de Mar with enough time for the drive back to Barcelona Airport.

Also check the pickup address again. If you changed accommodation during the holiday the address from your arrival journey may no longer be correct.
